
MICHAEL SCHIMPF OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a junior outfielder from Shreveport, La., has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 7th through Sunday, March 13th.
Schimpf ran his hitting streak to 11 games with an outstanding weekend which saw him take over the conference lead in batting average (.431). He finished the weekend with a .643 average and a .857 slugging percentage.
He had multiple hits in every game this weekend, including a double in every contest as the Gents swept Austin College. He also reached base safely in seven of his final eight at-bats.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outfielder Jeremy Wolf of Trinity finished with a .412 batting average for the week, going 7-17 overall, and adding five runs and six RBI in the five games. Senior infielder Alejandro Gutierrez of Texas Lutheran hit .556 and drove in six runs as the Bulldogs went 4-0 last week. Junior first baseman Ethan Luna of Southwestern hit .600 (6-for-10) with a double, a homer and four RBIs against No. 4 Trinity.
