TONY
GENNUSA OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a
senior outfielder from Kingwood, Texas, has been selected the SCAC
Baseball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played through
Sunday, March 1st.
Gennusa led Texas Lutheran to a 1-1 weekend
against Centenary College in non-conference action, playing a big
part in the 28 runs scored in two games over the Gents.
Gennusa finished 5-for-9 on the weekend with a double and three RBIs to go with four runs scored. The second game is where Gennusa really shined, going 4-for-5 with a double, three RBIs, and three runs scored in a 25-7 victory.
For the season, Gennusa leads the SCAC with an impressive 20 runs scored along with triples at two. He is seventh in the conference in batting average at .421 as well as RBIs at nine. He is also fourth in the conference on the basepaths with five steals.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior infielder
Jose Santos of Trinity batted 2-3 with three runs
scored in the game, cracking a triple and also picking up one RBI
to account for four of the team's nine runs scored. In the two-run
second, Santos crushed a run-scoring triple to the right-center
gap, then scored on a sac fly. Centenary did not
nominate anyone. Austin
College, Dallas, Schreiner, and Southwestern did not
play.
