Centenary's Ludwick Earns NCBWA Division III National POTW Honor

DALLAS, Texas - The honors continue to come in for Centenary's Preston Ludwick as he was named the Division III National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association.

On Monday, Ludwick was named SCAC Player-of-the-Week and the following day he was listed on D3baseball.com's national Team of the Week.

Ludwick was impressive at the plate for the Gents, going 10-for-12 (.833), slugging 1.500 and posting an .857 on base percentage in Centenary’s three-game series with Dallas. The sophomore hit for the cycle over the course of the weekend, driving in eight runs and scoring four more and stealing two bases. Friday night in the series opener against Dallas, Ludwick went 1-for-2, smashing a two-run homer for his only hit of the contest. In game one of the double-header on Saturday, Ludwick batted .800 (4-for-5) with two extra-base hits, four RBI and two stolen bases. Ludwick came back for game two even hotter, going a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with two extra base hits and two RBI.

The sophomore is the first SCAC athlete to be recognized by the NCBWA for one of its national weekly awards since Trinity’s Andrew Waters was named hitter of the week in 2016.

Springfield College’s Brian Johnson was named the National Pitcher-of-the-Week and St. Norbert College’s Mason Sefcik earned National Rookie-of-the-Week.
