LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The baseball regular season came to a close for all of the teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference as a regular season champion was crowned and the final spot in the tournament was locked up.
Centenary College won the weekend series over #1 Trinity University to take the top seed heading into the conference tournament and secure a second-straight regular season title. The Gents won the first match-up, 6-4, but the Tigers bounced back to win a 13-inning battle, 5-3. The Sunday contest decided the champion, and a strong sixth-inning performance made it a Gents' victory. The Tigers end the regular season with a 33-7 record overall and 14-4 in the SCAC, while Centenary closes it at 24-14 with a 15-3 record in conference.
Texas Lutheran University earned a series sweep over Austin College on the road, winning a close one Friday, but dominating in Saturday's doubleheader. The Bulldogs posted wins of 13-1 and 14-1 to keep the 'Roos out of the 2018 SCAC Baseball Championship. The Bulldogs ended the regular season with a record of 31-9 and 13-5 in the SCAC, while AC finished 13-18 and 6-12 in league play.
In the final conference series, Schreiner University swept the University of Dallas to finish the season 17-23 and 6-12 in the SCAC. Dallas finished 12-26 and 2-16 in conference.
