CLEBURNE, Texas – Top-seeded Centenary College used a four-run sixth inning and rode a pitching gem from Matthew Devillier to advance past No. 2-seed Trinity University 4-0 on Saturday evening, keeping the Gents’ hopes alive in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Championship. HOW IT HAPPENED
- Matthew Devillier took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, finishing with a shutout and scattering just five Trinity hits to earn his sixth win of the year.
- After five scoreless innings, the Gents came alive in the top of the sixth with four runs to take control. Cameron Guin got the scoring started with an RBI single, and Ian Graham doubled home two more to highlight the inning.
- Trinity put one runner on in each of the final three innings, but couldn’t generate any runs down the stretch as Devillier closed the door in his third complete game of the season.

- Centenary moves on with a chance to avenge its tournament-opening loss to Southwestern, having fallen to the Pirates 3-2 in the first game of the SCAC Championship on Friday.
- This is the first time since 2003 that Trinity has gone winless in the SCAC Championship. It’s also the first time the Tigers have been shut out in a conference tournament game since 2001.
- Tomorrow’s championship game will be the first since 2012 that doesn’t feature Trinity.
- Centenary has now won three of its last four conference tournament games against the Tigers.
