SEGUIN, Texas -- In a game that featured 22 hits, 315 pitches thrown, five lead changes, five errors and a triple play for good measure, Trinity University held on for a 9-8 victory over Centenary College in the second game of the 2016 SCAC Baseball Tournament Friday evening at Texas Lutheran's Katt-Isbel Field. After a brisk pitcher's dual between Texas Lutheran and Southwestern in Game One, the nightcap proved to be anything but predictable.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game featured five lead changes with Centenary holding the biggest lead of the game at 5-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth.
- Trinity scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth - all the runs were unearned and all scored after two were out.
- Centenary out-hit Trinity 12-10.
- Centenary's Michael Schimpf and Chris Zapata both hit home runs in the top of the sixth - the first home runs of the 2016 tournament (there was only one HR the entire 2015 tournament).
- Trinity's Kevin Flores entered the game in the top of the eighth and struck out all six batters he faced.

NOTABLES
- Trinity has won its last 12 first round SCAC tournament games. The last time the Tigers lost a first-round SCAC tournament game was 2003.
- Kevin Flores picked up his first save of the season and just the third of his career. His last save came in 2013 - in the Tigers' first round game of the 2014 SCAC Tournament (a 4-3 win against Southwestern).
- Centenary got out of a bases-loaded, no out jam in the bottom of the sixth with a rare triple play. On a fly ball hit to left caught by Centenary's Michael Schimpf, Trinity's Colin Serkowski tagged up to score. Gents' third baseman Ian Graham cut off the throw from the outfield and caught Trinity's Jeremy Wolf making too wide of a turn at second for the second out. After Serkowski scored, Centenary's Matthew Devillier, who was pitching at the time, stepped off the rubber and threw to third to appeal that Serkowski left early. The appeal was granted and Serkowski was called out - negating the run and closing out the inning on the odd 7-5-4-1-5 triple play.
