D3baseball.com Names Trinity's Tim Scannell Coach of the Year

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Trinity University's Tim Scannell was named Coach of the Year by D3baseball.com on Thursday. Full Release

Scannell led the Tigers to their first ever national title this year in his 18th season at the helm. He has solidified himself as the winningest Trinity baseball coach in history, and has led the Tigers to seven consecutive NCAA Regional Tournament and two consecutive NCAA Division III World Series berths. 

Trinity claimed the national title by sweeping Keystone (PA) College 14-6 and 10-7 in the best-of-three finals series on Tuesday at Fox Cities Stadium. The Tigers completed the campaign with a 44-7 record, setting a school mark in victories. 

"This is about the history of the program," said Head Coach Tim Scannell, when asked about winning the championship. "This accomplishment is 20 years in the making, and this means so much to all of us, because we know how much it means to all of the people who have been a part of the program. I couldn't be more proud of our guys."

The American Baseball Coaches Association honored Coach Scannell's achievements by electing him the 2015 ABCA/Diamond NCAA Division III West Region Coach of the Year. He has also been named SCAC Coach-of-the-Year nine times.
