The Gents are in control, needing only one win to claim the tournament championship. They are the regular season champions this season after going 15-3 in SCAC play.

Meanwhile, Trinity had an uphill battle, needing to win twice on Sunday to claim their 10th SCAC Championship. Six times in SCAC Baseball Championship history has a second game been forced, but only two times has the teams needing two wins actually won both games.

It has not happened since 1995 when Trinity took two over Millsaps to claim the SCAC Title. The only other time it happened was 1992, the first SCAC Championship, when Millsaps defeated Trinity twice.

The last time a second game has been forced was 2008 when Millsaps forced a second game against Trinity, but went on to fall 6-5 to the Tigers. Trinity has been involved in second game scenarios in five out of six instances.
