Centenary, Trinity Advance on Day 1 of SCAC Baseball Championship

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary College and Trinity University picked up wins on the first day of the SCAC Baseball Championship in Shreveport, La. on the campus of Centenary College of Louisiana. Official Website | Interactive Bracket

In tomorrow's games, the championship will open up wtih the Gents and Tigers meeting at 2:30 p.m. with the winner moving onto the SCAC Championship Game on Sunday. 

The loser will meet Southwestern in an elimination game at 6 p.m. The Pirates staved off elimination in the final game of the day by defeating Texas Lutheran, 3-2. 

GAME 1 - #1 CENTENARY COLLEGE 10, #4 SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY 0 (7 INNINGS)
Centenary exploded for five runs in the fourth inning to break open a scoreless game and roll to a 10-0 (7) win. Holden Novak was terrific, allowing only one earned run in a complete game effort, and earning his eighth win of the season. Complete Recap

GAME 2 - #3 TRINITY UNIVERSITY 3, #2 TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY 1
Texas Lutheran held a 1-0 lead through seven innings, but a go-ahead solo blast from Jeremy Wolf in the ninth inning put Trinity ahead for good in a thrilling 3-1 win over the Bulldogs at the SCAC Baseball Championship. Complete Recap

GAME 3 - #4 SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY 3, #2 TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY 2
The Pirates scored three unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings and used excellent pitching performances from Jacob Kendra and Riley Wayland to stave off elimination and defeat Texas Lutheran in the nightcap of the SCAC Baseball Championship. Complete Recap
