MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Senior Luciano Villanueva of the University of Dallas was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for his performance this past weekend against East Texas Baptist.
In a three-game series against the Tigers, the right-hander slugger from San Antonio, Texas posted a pair of hits in two of the contests. He combined for five RBI, which accounted nearly half of the 11 runs the Crusaders posted in what would be a sweep by ETBU. The DH added a double, crossed the dish twice, and slugged .727 in the series.
On the campaign, Villanueva ranks second in batting average with a .351 clip with 13 hits and leads the squad with eight runs batted in. He has totaled 19 bases altogether which is second on the team as well.
Villanueva is the third SCAC student-athlete to earn D3baseball.com Team of the Week honors. Mike Walker of Trinity and Justin Law of Texas Lutheran took home the honors two weeks ago.
