With the score knotted at 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth, the 'Roos loaded the bases via two walks and a hit batter before a throwing error from the Southwestern third baseman on a sharply hit grounder by Mason Leech plated the game's winning run.
The fourth-seeded 'Roos (12-27), who will play top-seed Centenary College at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, got seven strong innings from sophomore right-hander Marshall Korn, although he didn't factor into the decision. Junior right-hander Colt Herron improved to 3-1 and picked up the win in relief.
Austin Vaughan and Travis Gibson each had a double and two hits for Austin College and Tyler Appelquist also had two hits.
Jeff Glasgow was 3-for-3 for Southwestern as the senior had three of his team's four hits.
Nino Titino (0-3) was tagged with the loss for the Pirates.
Southwestern (3-37) falls to the consolation bracket and will play at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening against the loser of Trinity University and University of Dallas, which is Friday's first game with first pitch scheduled at Noon.
