Rhodes Selected To Host 2012 NCAA Baseball Central Regional

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The NCAA released the locations of the eight regional sites and SCAC member Rhodes College was selected to host the 2012 NCAA Central Regional.

The regional will be held at USA Stadium in Millington, Tenn. This will be the second consecutive year Rhodes has hosted a regional for baseball. Last year Rhodes hosted the South Regional.

USA Stadium was the official training site for the United States Olympic baseball team from 1986-1996, and has been the host for the 2010 and will also host the 2011 SCAC Baseball Championship.

This will mark the sixth overall time an SCAC team has hosted an NCAA baseball regional. Prior to Rhodes hosting last year, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology hosted the Central regional in 2005 while Southwestern University hosted the West Regional in 1999, 2000 and 2002.

The other regional sites for the 2012 Division III baseball playoffs are as follows:

Mid-Atlantic Regional: First Energy Park (Lakewood, N.J./hosted by Kean University)
Mideast Regional: Don Schaly Stadium (Marietta, Ohio/hosted by Marietta College)
Midwest Regional:  Prucha Field (Whitewater, Wis./hosted by University of Wisconsin-Whitewater)
New England Regional: Mansfield Complex  (Mansfield, Conn./hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University)
New York Regional: Baseball Complex (Farmingdale, N.Y./hosted by State University of New York at Farmingdale)
South Regional: Captains Park (Newport News, Va./hosted by Christopher Newport University)
West Regional: Roy Helser Field (McMinnville, Ore./hosted by Linfield College)

The eight regionals will be held May 16-20 with each regional champion advancing to the Division III World Series May 25-29 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis.
