SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Former Trinity University Tigers standout pitcher Evan Bronson has been promoted to the Class Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs of the International League.

Bronson's move to the Washington Nationals top farm club came just two weeks after being assigned to the Class Double-A Harrisburg (Pa.) Senators of the Eastern League.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound left-hander made his debut with the Chiefs on Aug. 1, as Syracuse beat the Toledo Mud Hens 8-3. Bronson claimed the victory after entering the game in the fifth inning. He hurled 4.1 innings, and allowed three earned runs, three hits, while striking out three Toledo batters.

Bronson stands at 3-3 in Minor League Baseball, with a 3.75 ERA. He has 72 innings of work, and has fanned 39 players.

The talented Bronson pitched for the Tigers from 2006-2009, and earned All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors his last three years. He has an overall collegiate record of 21-11, and is 10th on the Trinity ERA list, at 3.06. Bronson hurled 250.1 innings for the Tigers, and struck out 271 opposing batter (sixth in the Trinity record books).
