STERLING, Va. - For the third consecutive year, a Millsaps College Major was named to the D3baseball.com Preseason All-American team. Junior infielder Will Hawkins was named to the 2010 second team at first base.
Hawkins batted .406 with 11 home runs, 55 RBI and 47 runs scored. The Nettleton, Miss. native also stole 14 bases in 16 total attempts while also posting a .989 fielding percentage.
He led the team in five statistical categories including batting average, hits (73), doubles (17), RBI and total bases (127). Hawkins also earned the 2009 SCAC Offensive Player of the Year award and earned first-team All-SCAC honors during his sophomore season.
He was the only SCAC representative on the team.
Hawkins, and the rest of his Majors teammates, open up the 2010 season on Friday, February 5 when they host the University of Ozarks in a double-header starting at 2 p.m.
