AUSTIN, Texas – Two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes earned CoSIDA Capital One Academic At-Large All-American honors this week.

Sofia Vega of Texas Lutheran University and Brigitte Lee of Trinity University were both named to the third team.

Vega, a junior women’s tennis student-athlete from Corpus Christi, Texas, has a 3.82 grade point average in biology and earned the honor for her first time. She is one of just five women’s tennis players to make the Women’s At-Large Academic All-America list.

In her career, she has amassed a singles record of 80-13 (.860) and a doubles mark of 47-28 (.627). She is also a three-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American.

Lee, a junior women’s golf student-athlete from Shavano Park, Texas, posted an impressive 3.99 GPA in biochemistry and molecular biology.

On the golf course, Lee has earned a slot on the All-SCAC Teams for the past three years. The most recent honor came after helping lead the Tigers to a second place finish at the 2015 SCAC Championship. In 2013, she won the SCAC Women’s Golfer of the Year award after capturing the individual title at the conference meet. She was also named the Freshman of the Year as the league’s top first-year golfer.
