SHREVEPORT, La. – A collection of Centenary
student-athletes and athletic department personnel volunteered
during the Special Olympics Polar Plunge Fundraiser.
"I was really proud of the athletes and coach that stepped up to volunteer for this event," said Rachel Grinnell Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Vice President. "It was an early morning, but definitely worth it. I hope that Centenary can continue to support the Special Olympics of Louisiana throughout the semester and in years to come. It is a great relationship to have and it's great that sports can bring so many people together for a great cause."
National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III institutions across the country support the Special Olympics.
The Polar Plunge is an annual fundraising event that takes place at Cross Lake where individuals and teams have the opportunity to jump into icy water to support Special Olympics of Louisiana.
Other remaining events for the Special Olympics is a unified flag football game on Apr. 13 and watching the Gents’ baseball team on Apr. 17 against cross-town neighbor LSU-Shreveport.
