Schreiner, Trinity Honored with Athletic Training and Sports Information Staff of the Year Awards

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – In voting done among members of the respective peer councils, Trinity University was recognized as the Sports Information Staff of the Year, while Schreiner University was selected Athletic Training Staff of the Year.

The Sports Information Staff of the Year award began prior to the 2016-17 season, while the Athletic Training Staff of the Year award was introduced ahead of the 2012-2013 season.

The Schreiner athletic training department is made up of three staff members: Janel Carlile, the Head Athletic Trainer, Chris Ramos, Assistant Athletic Trainer and Dr. Clint Morris, the Team Physician.

The group handled athletic training duties for the inaugural championship of the 2018 fall season when Schreiner hosted the SCAC Cross Country Championship on campus in Kerrville. In addition, the staff covered all athletic training duties for all 15 NCAA men’s and women’s varsity sports. This marks the second time that Schreiner's athletic training staff has been recognized as SCAC AT Staff of the Year after first earning the honor in 2015-16.

The Trinity University sports information department is made up of four staff members: Justin Parker, Associate Director of Athletics/Sports Information Director, Brianne Davis, Assistant Director of Athletics/Sports Communications, Joshua Moczygemba, Sports Marketing Coordinator and Assistant SID, James Hill. This is the second time in the last three years Trinity has earned the honor, the Tigers’ SID staff also won the award in 2017.

Trinity’s sports information department handled media coverage and hosting duties for three conference championships, the 2018 SCAC Women’s Soccer Championship, the 2019 SCAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championship and the 2019 SCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The group took on a late addition of the women’s soccer championship after the event was relocated to San Antonio in early November. Additionally, the Trinity staff assisted the SCAC with media duties for the 2019 Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships and hosted the opening two rounds of the 2018 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship. The Tiger Network, started in 2015-16, broadcasted 139 Trinity athletic events over the course of the year and the legendary voice of the Tigers, James Hill, just completed his 25th year as public address announcer for athletics.
