Trinity Leads Five SCAC Members Ranked in Final Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Trinity University ended the year in 24th place in the Learfield Sports NCAA Division III Directors' Cup Standings, followed by four other Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference schools.

Trinity totaled 518.00 points in the standings on the strength of its four NCAA appearances this season. The Tigers placed ninth in men's tennis, 17th in women's tennis, 51st in men's track & field and 64th in women's track and field.

Colorado College ended with 259.00 points and is second among the league in 77th place. The Tigers had three postseason appearances this spring, including men's lacrosse (9th place), women's lacrosse (17th place) and women's track and field (40th place).

Texas Lutheran University comes in behind CC with 154.00 points in 128th place. The Bulldogs earned points in softball and men's track & field this spring.

Southwestern University's fall points continued to carry over, earning the Pirates a 198th place finish with 83.00 points.

Centenary College rounded out the SCAC teams in 241st place with 50.00 points after finishing in 17th place in the baseball tournament.

Williams College finished atop all of Division III with 1335.25 points, and has a 108.25-point lead over second-place Washington University - St. Louis (1227.00). Tufts remains in third place with 926.75 points, followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (895.00) and Johns Hopkins (864.50).

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men's.

To date, all 13 spring NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: Baseball - California Lutheran University; women's golf - Rhodes College; men's golf - Wittenberg; women's lacrosse - Gettysburg; men's lacrosse - Salisbury; women's rowing - Bates; softball - Virginia Wesleyan; women's tennis - Williams; men's tennis - Emory; women's track & field - Washington University (St. Louis); men's track & field - Wisconsin La Crosse; men's volleyball - Springfield; women's water polo - Stanford
