Trinity Leads Four SCAC Schools Ranked In Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Final Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Finishing in 30th place, Trinity University leads four SCAC institutions ranked in the prestigious 2015-2016 Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings. Complete NACDA Release

Trinity amassed 499.50 points in the standings on the strength of its three NCAA appearances this spring. The Tigers won their first baseball national championship earlier this month, earning 100 total points for the feat. They also placed ninth in men's tennis for 64 points, while finishing 17th on the women's side for 50 points.

Colorado College finished with 211.0 points and is in 87th place among the 324 schools ranked. The Tigers placed ninth in both men's and women's lacrosse earning 53 and 64 points, respectively.

Texas Lutheran is ranked 202nd with 75 points, earning 50 after the softball team finished the NCAA tournament in 17th place. Southwestern finished in 216th place, earning 46 points for a 28th place finish at the men's golf championship.

Williams College amassed 1098.25 points, finishing 85.25 points ahead of second place Washington-St. Louis. Emory University (969.00), Tufts College (882.25) and Middlebury College (860.50) rounded out the top five.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men's.

To date, all 13 spring NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: baseball - Trinity University; women's golf - Rhodes College; men's golf - Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges; women's lacrosse - Middlebury; men's lacrosse - Salisbury; women's rowing - Wellesley College; softball - University of Texas at Tyler; women's tennis - Emory University; men's tennis - Bowdoin; women's track & field - Illinois Wesleyan; men's track & field - University of Wisconsin - La Crosse; men's volleyball -  SUNY New Paltz.
