Trinity Leads Five SCAC Schools in Final Learfield Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Five Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference institutions earned a spot in the final Division III Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, led by Trinity University in 25th place. Full Standings

Trinity posted a total of 513.00 points throughout the year, including 206.00 during the spring sports season. A third place finish at the College World Series notched 83 points, while they also earned 50 for women’s tennis and 73 for men’s tennis. TU made a huge jump from 34th place after the winter release was announced.

Colorado College finished second among the SCAC, totaling 135.00 points. With men’s lacrosse earning and at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, CC earned 25 points.

Southwestern University, Texas Lutheran University and Schreiner University all finished with five points. The Pirates led off with 77.00 points and a 213th place finish, adding 52 to their previous total with a 22nd place finish at the men’s golf championship.

Texas Lutheran, finishing in 215th place, added 25 points this spring for softball after completing their season in the regional round. The Bulldogs earned 75.00 total points this year.

Schreiner rounded out the list in 226th place with 72.00 points, earning all of those at the Men’s Golf Championship with a seventh place finish.

Williams College captured the overall top spot, totaling 1053.00 points, while taking first place in two spring sports – women’s golf and women’s tennis. Johns Hopkins University finished with 1016.75 points for second place, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with 961.00.

Rounding out the top five is Washington University (Mo.) and Amherst College. The two programs totaled 944.00 and 918.50 points, respectively.

All twelve spring Division III championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles: baseballSUNY Cortland; women’s golf – Williams; men’s golf – Methodist; women’s lacrosse – SUNY Cortland; men’s lacrosse – Tufts; women’s rowing – Bates; softball – Tufts; women’s tennis – Williams; men’s tennis – Claremont-Mudd-Scripps; men’s track & field – Wisconsin-La Crosse; women’s track & field – Wisconsin-La Crosse; men’s volleyball – Stevens.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women’s and nine men's.
