Tigers Fall at Southwestern

Box Score Colorado College could not overcome a sluggish first half and dropped a 74-61 at Southwestern University on Saturday night.

CC slipped to 10-14 overall and 9-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Tigers are tied with Texas Lutheran University for second place and can clinch a bye in the first round of the SCAC Tournament with a victory at the University of Dallas next Saturday.

Colorado College can still claim the regular-season championship if Schreiner loses its three remaining games.

Junior forward John Hatch led Colorado College with 21 points.

Freshman forward CooXooEii added 15 points for the Tigers, while junior guard added Eric Houska recorded 14 points and four assists.

Still feeling the effects of Friday night's hard-fought victory at Texas Lutheran, CC made just one of its first six shots and committed three turnovers as Southwestern raced to a 16-3 lead.

After Hatch sank a pair of free throws to trim Colorado College's deficit to 26-19 with 6:47 remaining in the half, the Pirates utilized a 12-7 surge to build a 12-point lead after 20 minutes.

Trailing by 15 points early in the second half, Colorado College clawed back to within 54-50 with 7:14 remaining in the game, but the Pirates iced the game at the free-throw line.

Southwestern's Ben Stiver went four-for-five from behind the arc en route to a team-high 19 points. He completed a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Chris Molina scored 13 points for the Pirates, while Zach Whitlock added 12.

Southwestern, which has locked up a spot in the SCAC Tournament, improved to 13-11 overall and 8-5 in conference play.
