'Roos Topple Schreiner to Wrap SCAC Weekend

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College volleyball team picked up a strong win over Schreiner University on Saturday, topping the Mountaineers 3-1 to wrap up their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference crossover weekend. Schreiner had previously won eight straight matches, and 10 of their last 11, before the 'Roos took them down on the campus of Centenary College.

Schreiner took the opening set 26-24, but the 'Roos came storming back in set two with a 25-14 win, and Austin College dominated again in the third set with another 25-14 win. The team clinched the victory in the fourth set with a 25-19 win to bring them to 15-8 overall on the year. 

Victoria Smith had nine kills and Olivia Linton added eight to lead the 'Roos, with Smith also adding three total blocks in the match. Mattie Duncan and Jaiden Tocquigny each had seven kills and TJ Folse added six in the win. Madison Manning paced Austin College with 19 assists and added seven digs, and Brianne Tseng had 18 assists and eight digs. Laynie Kovacs continued her big weekend defensively, finishing with a match-high 26 digs.
