Womens Soccer Comes Up Short in Overtime
UD lost their second consecutive game in overtime by falling 1-0
Saturday afternoon to in-state rival Austin College. The goal came
3:04 into the first over time period by Kangaroo Annie Gunter.
Despite struggling offensively, the Crusaders held strong
defensively, forcing overtime despite being outshot 23 to 4 in the
game and 13 to 2 in the second half. In goal senior keeper Jennifer
Boryca (Piqua, OH/Piqua H.S.) recorded seven saves on eight shots
on goal. On the attacking side of the ball freshman midfielder
Marie Meagher (Grand Forks, ND/Red River H.S.) led the team with
twp shots while senior midfielder Kate Palla (Napa, CA/Trinity
Grammar and Prep H.S.) and freshman defender Casey Regian
(Friendswood, TX/Friendswood H.S.) each added one of their own.
Next up for UD is their final home game on Tuesday, October 27th
against Howard Payne University. The last home game of the season
starts at 2:00pm. The Lady Crusaders then hit the road for their
last four games of the 2009 season. The team will start with Rhodes
College in Memphis, TN on the Friday, October 30th at 3:30pm.
