10th-ranked Tigers Take the Series Finale

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Falcons wrapped up the first series of the season on Sunday. The 10th-ranked Tigers of Trinity took game three of the series with a 7-2 victory. The Tigers improve to 8-4 on the year and the Falcons move to 0-3 on the year.

The first hit of the morning came from senior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) with a double into the gap in right-center field.

Freshman Matt Miller (Fredonia, Wis.) continued his hot streak at the plate with a single to right field in the second inning.

The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom half of the second inning on a pair of singles.

The Maroon and White looked to break the game open with the bases loaded in the second inning, but sophomore Luke Bruckner (Fond Du Lac, Wis.) got out of the jam with a groundout to shortstop.

Senior Dillan Fike (Oak Lawn, Ill.) started the fifth inning with a single to center field.

Senior Brandon Niedfeldt (Roscoe, Ill.) launched the ball deep into the gap in left-center field for a double to score Fike and send junior Sterling Armstrong (Lake Barrington, Ill.) to third base.

The Falcons had retired eight-straight batters before the Tigers notched a triple that later scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Falcons were able to get out of another bases-loaded jam with a double play.

Tillmon struck again in the sixth inning with a single to right field. He then reached second base on a wild pitch.

Sophomore Kyle Flynn (Nashville, Tenn.) got the ball rolling in the seventh inning with a double down the left-field line. A single from Sterling Armstrong through the right side of the infield scored Flynn from second base.

A walk for Sean Tillmon started things off for Concordia in the eighth inning. He advanced to scoring position with a stolen base.

Sophomore Holter Gette (Batavia, Ill.) recorded three strikeouts against seven batters.

The Tigers added to the scoreboard with four runs to gain some separation.

Sean Tillmon and Sterling Armstrong both had two hits on Sunday for Concordia.

Luke Bruckner had four strikeouts in the start.

The Falcons look to get back in the win column on Tuesday at Carroll.
