Colorado College earned the distinction of being the first team to win a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's lacrosse game by coming from behind to record a 12-5 victory at Birmingham-Southern College on Saturday.

Moses Taylor paced the Tigers with three goals and three assists, giving him six scores and 14 points during the last two games. Carson Christman struck for a pair goals and set up two others, giving him at least two goals and three points in every game this season.

The Panthers took an early lead when Nikko DeRosa found the net 2:15 into the first period and, despite being outshot 12-3 during the first period, went ahead 2-0 when Matt Ivie scored 83 seconds into the second frame.

After being held without a first-period goal for the second consecutive game, the Tigers exploded for 10 scores in the second and third frames to take control of the contest.

Charles Curtis ignited a 4-0 run when he put CC on the board with 8:38 to play in the second period, and Chris Love tied the game 1:25 later after taking a feed from Hunter Sprole.

Sprole finished with two goals and two assists for his fourth multi-goal game and his fourth with four or more points.

Taylor put the Tigers in front to stay when he scored with 3:36 remaining in the second half, and Christman's first goal gave Colorado College a 4-2 after 30 minutes.

Cameron Overton made 11 of his 14 his saves during the first half to keep Birmingham Southern within striking distance, but CC turned up the intensity during the third period.

BSC trimmed its deficit to one goal when Zach Hesson scored 1:45 into the second half, but the Tigers answered with six consecutive goals to build a 10-3 lead after three periods.

Christman scored what proved to be his second game-winning of the year 6:00 into the third period.

CC has now outscored its opponents 25-10 during the third frame this season and 48-21 during the second and third periods combined.

Brendan Haas tied his season high with 11 saves and lowered his goals-against average to 6.30.

The Tiger defense held its opponent to seven or fewer goals for the sixth time in seven games.

Zach Pierce grabbed a game-high six ground balls, while Jordan McHugh had five ground balls and won nine of 16 faceoffs.

DeRosa led the Panthers with two goals and assist, while Ivie scored twice.

CC improved to 4-1 against NCAA opponents and 1-0 in the SCAC. Birmingham-Southern slipped to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Colorado College plays host to Southwestern University next Saturday in a SCAC game at Washburn Field.
