Tiger rally comes up short against Hendrix

Colorado College cut a 15-point deficit to four with 20 seconds remaining, but Hendrix College put the game away at the free throw line and hung on for an 85-78 victory on Friday night at CC's Reid Gymnasium.

The Warriors led 72-57 after Andrew King drained a pair of free throws with 4:09 remaining in the game, but CC knocked down a trio of three-pointers during a 10-point run to claw its way back into the game. Hendrix built the lead back to 10 points with 48 seconds to play and that proved to be too big of a lead for Colorado College to overcome.

Lance Jacobs led five Tigers in double figures with 19 points. Jeremiah Waters had 12 points, while Jarrell Sweet and Nick Rose each finished with 11. Nate Brodman chipped in 10.

Nick Heathscott and Andrew King combined for 39 points on the inside and helped the Warriors build a commanding 40-24 advantage on the boards.

The Tigers countered by matching their season-high of 11 three-point shots, including three apiece by Jacobs and Waters. Unfortunately, CC only made five of 14 free throws while shooting a season-low .357 from the line.

Heathscott scored a game-high 20 points to pace the Warriors, while King added 19. Cal Rose made four of nine three-point attempts and finished with 18 points. David Foley had a game-high 10 rebounds.

Hendrix improved to 14-7 overall and 7-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Tigers dropped to 4-16 overall and 3-8 in the conference.

Colorado College will play host to Millsaps College on Sunday at Noon.
