Colorado College suffered its first setback of the season on Thursday night, dropping a 15-9 decision at perennial national power TCNJ.

Sophomore goaltender Alena Stern stopped 12 shots for the Tigers, her sixth game this season with double-digit saves, but the CC attack could not find its top gear for the first time this year.

The 17th-ranked Lions utilized a 5-1 surge early in the second half to take command of the game, building a 12-5 lead when Allie Gorman scored with 16:31 remaining.

Colorado College struck for three of the next four goals and closed to within 13-8 when Molly Dibble converted on a free-position shot, but that was as close as the Tigers would get.

TCNJ's Erin Harvey found the twice during the final 6:42 to give the Lions the victory in the battle of ranked teams.

CC was within a goal when Allie Thuet scored off a feed from Maggie O'Donnell a little less than seven minutes into the contest, but Olivia Cleale and Alex Fitzpatrick scored just 10 seconds apart to give the Lions a 5-2 lead.

After Eva King got one back for the Tigers, markers from Kathleen Jaeger and Harvey extended TCNJ's lead to three with 52 seconds remaining before halftime.

Avery Melville stuck with two seconds to go in the first half to get Colorado College to within three points for the final time.

King led the Tigers with three goals and matched her personal single-season high of 73 points first set a year ago.

O'Donnell produced a team-high four points with a goal and three helpers. It marked the fourth game in a row and the 10th time this season the first-year attacker finished a game with four or more points.

The Lions won 16 of 26 draw controls and finished with a 28-16 edge in ground balls. The extra possessions led to a 35-19 advantage in total shots for TCNJ.

Junior midfielder Lauren Pejza led the CC defense with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Miranda Chrone made six saves for the Lions, who improved to 8-5.

Fitzpatrick and Harvey scored four goals apiece for TCNJ, while Jaeger posted a game-high five points with three goals and a pair of assists.

Harvey also caused four turnovers and scooped up six draw controls for the Lions.
 
The Tigers, who slipped to 14-1, wrap up their two-game trip to the East Coast at 1:30 p.m. ET Friday when they visit Albright College in Reading, Pa.
