Box Score Sophomore forward
Tedy Reed came off the bench to score a team-high 13 points, but the Colorado College women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season with a 65-58 setback against Southwestern University on Friday afternoon at Reid Arena.
The Pirates took a page out of the CC playbook and utilized a 10-4 run during the final 2:13 to secure its first win of the season.
After sophomore forward
Talia Cloud gave the Tigers a 53-52 lead with 3:45 to play, Southwestern's Reece Sandercock converted a three-point play to put the Pirates ahead to stay. Colorado College was within a point after sophomore guard
Anna Fanelli sank a free throw, but SU answered a pair of baskets by Taylor Carney to stretch its lead to five.
Cloud trimmed CC's deficit to three, but Southwestern closed out the victory by going 6-for-6 at the free throw line during the final 23 seconds.
"As a team, we had some great looks tonight," head coach
Katherine Menendez said. "Some of those shots didn't fall our way and we needed a stronger presence on the offense glass to gain back those possessions."
The Tigers trailed 17-6 early in the second quarter, but retaliated with a 17-3 surge to take a three-point lead into halftime.
The Pirates caught fire in the third quarter, but Reed scored eight of her 13 points to keep Colorado College within striking distance.

Tedy Reed came off the bench and did exactly what was asked of her offensively," Menendez said. "Her 13 points and four rebounds were a spark when we needed it, without question."
Senior guard
McKenzee Gertz posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
CC won the battle on the boards, 41-38.
"We are privileged to have the chance to compete during these challenging times and our squad is excited about the opportunity to be better tomorrow," Menendez said."

Colorado College Standouts
Rosie Braley grabbed 10 rebounds and scored six points.
Anna Fanelli scored eight points and dished out four rebounds
Mia Thurber finished with four assists.

Southwestern Standouts
Noel Pratts led the Pirates with 19 points.
Lauren Fulenwider scored 11 of her 14 points during the second half.
Reece Sandercock posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
