The Rhodes College baseball team defeated Louisiana College this evening in Pineville, LA 12-4.  The Lynx trailed 3-0 after four innings before taking a 4-3 lead in the fifth and never looked back.  Sophomore Austin Carden picked up the victory and junior Hunter Chandler picked up his first save.  The Lynx improve to 3-1 on the year.

Carden settled down after a rough first inning, in which he allowed 3 runs and turned in one of his best outings in a Lynx uniform.  Carden worked 5 innings, allowed 5 hits, 3 runs (all earned), 2 walks, and struck out 8.  Chandler finished off the last four innings allowing 1 earned run, 1 walk, and struck out 6.

The Lynx offense got off to a slow as they did not get a hit until the top of fifth with a leadoff single by junior 3B Kyle Peterson.  Peterson went 3-4 with a double, 3 runs, drove in 1, and walked once.  Junior CF Andy Meier went 2-4 with a RBI, run scored, 2 walks, and stole a base.  Junior RF Brent Lindsey was 2-4 with 3 RBIs.  Junior DH Austin Marcum went 1-3 with a double, two walks, and scored a run.  Senior 2B Andy Boucher was 2-3 on the day with 2 runs scored.

Rhodes will return to action tomorrow at 12:00 with a double header against Louisiana College.
