IRVING, Texas -- The Southwestern's University women's lacrosse team surged past the University of Dallas's defense, winning 25-5.

Freshman midfielder Deanna Hames scored the high of six goals for the Pirates, scoring three of her goals back to back within two minutes.  Hames also won four ball-control possessions, contributed one assist and had one caused turnover.

In the first half of the game, Jillie Klumbach scored the first goal of the game giving the Pirates the first point on the board. Dallas would quickly answer back with a goal of their own and this would continue for the next six minutes with Dallas tieing up the game after a Pirate goal. After Dallas tied the score 3-3 the Pirates would go on a scoring streak of 11 goals while Dallas struggled to score against the Pirates defense. Another factor in the successful Pirate offense was that Southwestern won 16 of the 21 draw controls in the first half. So the Pirates went into the half with a comfortable lead of 16-4.

In the second half, the Pirates played with the same intensity they had in the first half to keep most of the possessions and attack the Crusader cage. Southwestern demonstrated successful teamwork with six of the nine goals made in the second half assisted by other team members. The cohesive Pirate offense held Dallas from making any moves on the Pirates defense, resulting in another win for Southwestern as they improved 3-1 in the season.

Other highlighted players from the night include Haley Hurt, who contributed four goals and two ground balls with three caused turnovers. Natasha Perez-Krause, Jillie Klumbach and Johnee Wolter tacked on three goals each. Perez-Krause and Wolter also assisted for two goals each.

Raven Garcia scored two goals and had the team-high of three assists while Emma Pertuit scored two goals, winning 12 draw control possessions and four ground balls. Ally Bienvenu scored one goal and won two draw control possessions and one ground ball. Goalies Tessa Lewis Sofia Valdespino both made one save.

Up next, the Pirates will play back home at Georgetown on Varsity Field on Sunday, March 8 at noon against St. Mary's College Notre Dame, IN.
