Centenary Tops Tigers in Overtime

Kile Mingo snapped a 73-73 tie with one of his five three-point baskets with 3:15 remaining in overtime and Ty Prince sank five of six free throws during the final 2:14 to lift Centenary College to an 83-75 victory over Colorado College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Sunday afternoon at the Gold Dome.  

A three-pointer by Eric Jonas gave the Tigers a 68-65 lead with 56 seconds remaining in regulation, but Centenary leveled the score with on a free throw by Cedric Harris with 23 seconds left.

CC had a shot to win in it at the buzzer, but Aaron Acosta's shot from behind the arc wouldn't drop and the Tigers went to overtime for the first time this season.

CooXooEii Black led Colorado College with 22 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, recording his fourth double-double of the season and the 20th of his career.

The senior forward went 8-for-18 from the floor while reaching the 20-point mark for the fourth time this year and the 21st time in his career.

Jonas scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half to keep the Tigers within striking distance. He reached the 20-point mark for the second time in 2019-20 and the fourth time overall. The senior guard went 3-for-5 from behind the arc and hit nine of 10 free throws.

Neither team led by more than three point during the second half until Harris gave Centenary a 65-60 lead with 2:24 to play.

Jonas scored six points during an 8-0 run that gave CC its final lead of the game.

Prince led the Gents with 24 points, while Mingo finished with 19.

Aaron Acosta reached double digits for the third time this season with 15 points.
Charlie Rounaghi grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists.  
 
Centenary Standouts
Cedric Harris scored 11 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Ralph Johnson scored nine points and led the Gents with five assists.

Colorado College dropped to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the SCAC.
Centenary improved to 6-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
CC posted a 52-47 advantage on the boards.
The Gents scored 16 points off turnovers.
