12/4/2009 11:45:25 PM

Memphis, Tennessee ~ The Rhodes College Lynx dropped their third straight tonight as they fell to the Tigers of DePauw University 86-64.  It was a tale of two half as the upstart Lynx kept pace with the Tigers throughout the first half, but struggled in the second half.

Rhodes fell behind after DePauw drained a three on its first possession of the night, but sophomore Kory Kilpatrick (Athens, GA) nailed a three on the next Rhodes possession to tie the score at 3.  A 13-4 run by DePauw had the home team trailing by nine points with 13:52 left in the first half.  Senior Andrew Sillyman (Cordova, TN) nailed a jumper to stop the run and ignite a six point spurt pulling the Lynx to with three points with 11:48 to play in the opening stanza.  After a traditional three point play pushed the Tiger lead to six, sophomore Jonas Williams' (Birmingham, AL) free throw line jump shot made the score 19-15.  A DePauw three pointer pushed the lead back to seven but the Lynx went on a 10-0 run highlighted by a tip dunk from Sillyman.  Jumpers from Larry Cunningham, JR. (St. Charles, MO) and Reid Hamilton (Birmingham, AL) gave the Lynx a three point lead with 6:28 left to play.  The teams battled back and forth for the next two minutes, but the Lynx held firm with a three point lead at 30-27 with just over four minutes to play in the half.  An 11-4 DePauw run pushed the visitor's lead to four points and Kilpatrick three pointer beat the horn as the Lynx trailed by just one point heading into the locker room.

The second half was a different story as the Lynx struggled to find any offensive rhythm in the half.  An 11-0 run by the Tigers pushed the lead to 12 points after three minutes gone by in the second.  A three pointer by senior Chris Eberle (Cincinnati, OH) cut the lead back to single digits at the 15:46 mark.  DePauw would respond with scoring eight of the next ten points and push the lead to 15.  An Andrew Galow (Oswego, IL) cut the lead to 11 with 13:11 to go and the Lynx seemed to be getting back into the game but DePauw answered again and pushed the lead back to 15.  Four straight Cunningham points pulled the Lynx to within 11 at the 8:56 mark, but they would never get any closer.  DePauw closed the game with a 25-11 total over the final nine minutes.

On the night, the Lynx placed three players in double digits.  Senior Cunningham led the Lynx with  15 points.  Hamilton and Kilpatrick each scored 13 points.  Kilpatrick led the Lynx with 8 rebounds, but the Lynx were out rebounded 35-27 on the night.
