Box Score Colorado College used a career-high 16 points from sophomore guard
Eric Houska and a season-high 12 three-point baskets to defeat Johnson & Wales University, 81-58, on Tuesday night at the Wildcat Center.
Senior swingman
Luke Winfield connected on five of eight attempts from behind the arc and finished with a season-high 15 points.
Senior guard
Justin Berardino recorded 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while sophomore forward
John Hatch added 11 points and four boards.  Â
The Tigers led by 19 after Winfield dialed long distance 2:06 into the second half, but JWU refused to fold and pulled to within 10 points when Jontrell Herman drained a three-pointer with 9:08 to play.
A trey by Hatch just 27 seconds later ignited a 21-8 run that put Colorado College back in command.
CC regained a 20-point advantage on Berardino's three-ball with 3:32 to go and freshman guard
Reed Nakakihara closed out the scoring with a pair of free throws with 28 seconds to play which gave the Tigers a 23-point margin of victory.
Herman came off the bench to record a game-high 19 points for the Wildcats, who dropped to 5-7.
In his first collegiate start,
Chris Martin gave Colorado College a double-digit lead when he scored in the paint with 7:29 to play in the first half. The sophomore forward equaled his previous single-game highs with nine points and six rebounds during the first half.
Senior guard
Juwan Rohan gave the Tigers their biggest lead at 37-17 when he connected on a long three-pointer from above the key with a little less than a minute remaining in the first half.
JWU's Edmond Myers dialed long distance with five seconds to go to trim CC's lead to 17 points after 20 minutes.
The Tigers shot a fraction over 45-percent from the floor, including a blistering 57-percent from long range.
The Wildcats were only 6-for-21 from three-point range, but finished with a 44-37 advantage on the glass.
Colorado College (2-3) travels to the Pacific Northwest this weekend for a pair of games in Newberg, Ore. The Tigers complete their two-game series with Whitworth University on Saturday, and then square off against host George Fox University on Sunday.
