Ohlsen leads Tigers to first SCAC victory

Sophomore forward Brady Ohlsen had 16 points and a career-high 14 rebounds to lead Colorado College to a 71-56 victory over Southwestern University on Saturday night at CC's Reid Gymnasium.
 
It was the first-ever victory for the Tigers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game. CC improved to 1-1 in the conference and 2-8 overall. Colorado College is 2-1 against Division III competition. Southwestern slipped to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the SCAC.
 
The Pirates took a 23-11 lead on a Jonathan Brown layup with 8:52 remaining in the first half, but from that point on it was almost all Tigers.
 
Colorado College used a 19-6 run to take the lead on a three-pointer by Jarrell Sweet with 1:08 to play in the opening period and the Tigers led 32-31 at the break.
 
Southwestern trailed by five points after another basket by Brown with 12:49 to play in the first half, but CC went on a 20-7 run to build a 62-47 lead with seven minutes to go and the Pirates were never able to get closer than 11 points.
 
Nick Rose led the Tigers with 19 points, while Lance Jacobs and Jarrell Sweet added 15 and 12 points, respectively.
 
Nick Caputo led SWU with 10 points while Brown had a team-high seven rebounds.
 
Colorado College will be idle until Jan 3 when the Tigers resume SCAC play at Austin College.
