The Rhodes College baseball team defeated cross town rival Christian Brothers University this afternoon 15-4 at Stauffer Field. The Lynx offense pounded out 14 hits en route to their highest offensive output this season. Sophomore
Brian Lainoff picked up his first victory of the season as the Lynx improved to 2-1 on the season.
Lainoff worked the first three innings in the designed pitcher by committee mid week game. Lainoff allowed 4 hits, 4 earned runs, walked two, and struck out two. Freshman
Tony Pikos then took over for Lainoff, working the fourth and fifth. Pikos allowed one hit, one walk, and struck out two. Freshman
James Todd worked the sixth, in which he did not allow a hit but walked two and struck out two. Sophomore
Remick Smothers threw a perfect seventh inning, getting three ground balls before the mercy rule was enacted in the bottom of the seventh.

Travis Perkins, who was 3-5 on the day with 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Perkins was a double shy of hitting for the cycle. Junior Andy Meier was 2-2 with 4 runs scored, walked once and was hit by a pitch. Junior DH

Austin Marcum was 1-1 on the day with a triple, 3 RBIs, and walked twice.
The Lynx will travel to Pineville, LA this weekend to take on Louisiana College in a three game set. Rhodes will play a single game at 6:00 on Saturday night and a double header on Sunday starting at 12:00.
