LUBBOCK, Texas – The McMurry University swim teams took part in the Wayland Baptist Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Pete Ragus Aquatic Center. The War Hawks men's team placed third and the women fourth in the field.
Junior
Robyn Remschel earned a first place in the women's 200-yard backstroke, touching at 2:10.41 minutes. Remschel also earned a runner-up placement in the 100 backstroke at 1:00.54.
Remschel also swam on McM's three top relay team: the 200 freestyle relay (third/1:47.08), 400 medley relay (fourth/4:26.24) and the 400 freestyle relay (third/3:56.97).
Zandria Rodriguez – who also was a part of the three relay quartets – was fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Monica Flores was fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:20.96) and third in the 400 IM (5:18.25). Flores also swam the third leg of the 400 medley relay.
Katie Gorka was sixth in the 1650 freestyle, finishing at 21:02.24 minutes. In the men's 1650 free, Dany Baki was fifth at 19:28.12.
In other men's events, sophomore
Jerick Pena had the team's top finishes with a pair of fifth places. Pena had a 2:04.11 in the 200 individual medley and posted a 54.62 seconds in the 100 butterfly.
