PIRATES BLANKED BY UT TYLER

TYLER, Texas – The Southwestern women's soccer team faced a tough UT Tyler squad on Friday afternoon as they lost their first match of the year, 5-0, to the Patriots. The Pirates fall to 2-1 on the year with the loss.

UTT grabbed the lead early, scoring just 1:51 into the match, and never looked back. They scored two more times and kept the Pirates off the board putting the halftime score at 3-0.

The Patriots once again struck early as the game resumed in the second half, needing just three minutes to score their fourth goal, and added one more in the 78th minute putting the final at 5-0.

Tyler controlled things for the entire game, taking 19 shots to Southwestern's six. The Pirates didn't receive a single corner kick during the game while Tyler had just one.

Sophomore Sarah Nonaka and senior Kat Daniel split time in goal as Nonaka recorded one save and Daniel had two.

The Pirates will look to regroup and refocus as their schedule continues to increase in difficulty as they head to Richardson, Texas to face the University of Texas at Dallas on Sunday at 1:00.
