The Colorado College cross country teams opened the 2019 season Saturday at the 10,000-foot Invite in Leadville, Colo., hosted by Colorado Mountain College.

The Tigers were the only team other than CMC to compete at the meet, and 10 of the 11 female runners were from CC.

Sophomore
Lucy Wagner led the way in the 5K race, winning it handily with a time of 22 minutes, 35 seconds. A pair of freshmen followed as
Alex Davey finished second in 24:07, followed by
Dafna Williams in third at 24:08. Junior
Audrey Nelson was fourth (24:29) and freshman
Na'ama Nevo placed fifth (24:41).

On the men's side, seniors
Tony Calderon and
Max Blackburn finished first and second, respectively, in the 8K meet. Calderon posted a time of 29:41, while Blackburn finished in 30:25.

Junior
Paul Olsen placed fourth in 32:57, followed by seniors
Adam Mahler in fifth (33:01) and
Jack Williams in sixth (33:05).

What Head Coach Ted Castaneda said:
"This was a good opening meet for us. The times are irrelevant since this was our first-ever meet at 10,000 feet. We did well given how hilly and mountainous the course was.
