The McMurry University Warhawks were just too much for the Pirates to handle as the Southwestern men's tennis team fell 8-1 on Saturday afternoon in Berry Creek. The loss drops SU to 3-7 on the year.
Southwestern started the match out strong with Alex Lam and D'Art Bebel easily winning in #1 doubles over Rainwater/Bumann 8-3. Alexander Reinsch and Andy Clarage put up a strong fight in the #2 doubles but fell 8-4 to Olivares/Breaux. Alec Bergerson and Andrew Olsson were held without a point in the #3 slot, falling 8-0 to Parker/Ewing.
It was all McMurry in the singles matches with Lam having the best shot at taking a singles match but fell in the tie breaker set to Oliveres in #2 singles.
The Pirates remain at home to face the University of Texas Tyler men's tennis team on Saturday at 4pm.
