Men's Lacrosse Loses in SCAC Championship Final

COLORADO COLLEGE, Colo. — The Southwestern University Pirates men's lacrosse team struggled in the SCAC Championship Final against the  No. 18 Colorado College Tigers, losing 31-11 to the defending conference champions.

Colorado College overwhelmed Southwestern, doubling the Pirates in shots on goal with a 46-21 advantage. The Tigers moved the ball ahead of the Pirate defense all game, assisting on 24 of their 31 goals while converting on 22 of 25 clear attempts. 

Southwestern struggled to gain or maintain possession. The Pirates totaled 24 turnovers and converted on only 12 of their 23 clear opportunities against a Colorado College team that was quicker to the ball, recording 47 ground balls to Southwestern's 22. 

The Pirates struggled to contain Anders Erickson, who scored five goals and dished out six assists for a game-high 11 points to lead the Tigers. Declan Maguire and Makay Hansen each scored four goals, and Philip Gisler scored three. Nine other Tigers scored one goal each. 

Brady Middleton led the Pirates with three goals. Zac Asbury scored two goals and an assist to match Middleton with three points. Tyler Johnson scored two goals. Jacob Hamilton, Jack Carolan, and Cody Foster had a goal and an assist each. Matt Caldwell scored a single goal, and Justin Macha and Alberto Quinones each had an assist. 

With the loss, Southwestern ends the season with a 7-5 record. Asbury finished his career with 78 goals, tied for ninth all-time in the SCAC, and a league-record 106 career assists and 184 points.
