MSOC: Huskies Draw in Season Home Opener

HOUSTON TX – The HBU Men's soccer team open the season with a 0-0 draw against the University of St. Thomas Saturday evening, putting up 14 shot attempts to UST's nine with a few close chances, struggling to find the back of the net.  

HBU (0-0-1, 0-0 WAC) had six shot attempts from Gianluca Natera who had three shots on goal, and six shot attempts from Luis Poblacion with two shots on goal. JP Bacerra helped the Huskies with a close save in the second half to keep the game tied. Senior Natera averaged 33.3 percent in shots on goal-attempts and totaling three goals last season. Poblacion, a sophomore, averaged 36.8 percent in shots on goal-attempts in his first season as a Husky.  

St. Thomas (0-0-1) has nine shot attempts with two from Dany Ramirez and Heiko Leinweber with 1 shot on goal-attmept from Ramirez. Rodrigo Lazo worked to keep the Huskies with five saves during regular time.  

The Huskies will begin conference play hosting Seattle at Sorrels Field on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2:30.
