The Colorado College men's swimming and diving team wrapped the 2024 CC Classic with a second-place finish behind UT-Permian Basin. The Tigers ended Sunday with 1043.5 points.
The Tigers collected six first-place, seven second-place, and seven third-place finishes over the weekend.
CC started the day during the morning session with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of
Jack Hussin,
Caleb Peimann,
Dax Sherwood and
Eric Uerling finished first with a time of 1:26.18.
Later in the day, Davis placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:51.90.
The only individual victory of the day for CC came in the 200-yard backstroke, thanks to an excellent performance from Peimann, who outpaced the field with a time of 1:56.39.
In the 100-yard backstroke,
Jack Higgins placed fourth after touching in 1:01.93.
CC ended the meet with a competitive finish to the 400-yard medley relay, where the Tigers "A" relay took the victory by less than one second over UTPB with a finish of 3:31.51. The team of Peimann, Higgins, Uerling and Hussin won it for the Tigers.
"Wow, this was a very high-energy meet all around," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "Because this meet is near the end of our hardest training phase, we often joke about it being the hardest lactate tolerance practice you can do. Five sessions in two and a half days really tests our limits, and I am so impressed with how much our team continuously stepped up to the challenges each day. We had great teams to compete against!"
CC will take a few weeks off before returning to action at the SCAC Championships in Garland, Texas, starting on Feb. 14.
