Men's Soccer Secures Double Overtime Victory

Men's Soccer picked up a key conference victory today after a double overtime bout with Texas Lutheran. Freshman Ulyses Jaimes would score his first collegiate goal to give the Celts the 3-2 win.

The Celts would get on the board first in the ninth minute after Luis Bencomo would set up Gabe Salako for his sixth goal of the season. However, the Bulldogs would knot things up at one right before the end of the half.

Texas Lutheran would control the majority of the second half and would eventually take the lead in the 64th minute. With time ticking away, the Celts attack would grow stronger as they fought for an equalizing goal. In the 89th minute, Bencomo would answer with a timely score to push the game into extra-time.

After a scoreless first period, St. Thomas would answer just five minutes into the second overtime. A Texas Lutheran red card would give Ulyses Jamies a free kick just outside the box. The left-footer would cease the opportunity and find the back of the net to give the Celts the come-from-behind victory.

Men's Soccer will continue conference play as they host Southwestern on Sunday at. 3:30PM.
