Wellehan Sets School and Pool Record at Colorado Mines

Despite a new school and pool record by freshman diver Wyatt Wellehan, the Colorado College men's swimming and diving team lost at Colorado Mines, 187-54, Friday night in Golden, Colo.

Wellehan posted a 1-meter, 6-dive score of 374.92 to set a new record at the Natatorium and broke the previous school record of 346 points by Austin Howlett in 2015. He won the event, defeating teammates Nico Rimer and Brian D'Alessandro.

Jack Hussin produced the only other victory for CC on Friday, winning the 200 freestyle race in 1:44.96. Hussin also placed second in the 100 freestyle.

"They are a very good team that is nationally ranked in Division II," head coach Anne Goodman James said. "They really made us step up and race tonight, leading us to many season-best times. Jack Hussin pulled off a huge win in the 200 free."

The Tigers return to action on Friday, Nov. 17, at the three-day Wabash Pebworth Invitational in Crawfordsville, Ind.
