Tigers Edged by Texas Lutheran

Sebastian Andrade hit a mid-range jumper with 23 seconds left in the second half to lift Texas Lutheran University past Colorado College, 64-63, Thursday night at Reid Arena.

CC's CooXooEii Black, who led all scorers with 24 points, made a layup with 1:22 remaining to even the game at 62-all. On TLU's ensuing possession, Jordan Kite missed a three-pointer with one minute on the clock and fell to the ground. The officials assessed a flopping call against Kite for the second time in the game, resulting in a technical foul and CC's Aaron Acosta made the ensuing free throw to put the Tigers ahead, 63-62.

Colorado College kept the ball following the technical foul, and Acosta got a good look but missed a jumper from the right side with 30 seconds remaining. Jamir Mason grabbed the rebound and handed the ball to Andrade, who drove into the paint and made the game winner from inside the free throw line, just as he did two years ago in a 74-72 TLU victory at Reid Arena.

After Acosta was called for travelling at the other end, the Tigers fouled Kite with three seconds left. He missed the front end of the one-and-one and CC's Jack McRoskey grabbed the rebound, but he couldn't get a shot off before the buzzer.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with TLU holding a 33-31 halftime advantage, then the Bulldogs claimed their biggest lead of the game, 51-44, thanks to a jumper by Andrew Wyzykowski with 11:12 left in the second half.

The Tigers roared back, however, and a three-pointer by Charlie Rounaghi completed a 9-1 run that gave CC its first lead of the second half, 53-52, with 7:22 left. TLU regained the lead and had a 59-55 advantage with 5:33 remaining, but five straight points by Acosta put the Tigers ahead, 60-59.

Kite hit a three-pointer with 3:22 left and neither team scored until Black tied it up at 62.

Acosta scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half for the Tigers, who have lost each of their conference games by one point.
