Ogilvie Strikes Twice As CC Tops Schreiner

Box Score Brandon Ogilvie struck for a pair of goals in the second half as No. 22 Colorado College defeated Schreiner University, 2-1, in its first road game of the 2014 season on Friday afternoon at a rain-soaked Mountaineer Field.

Ogilvie struck for his second game winner of the season and the 10th of his career in the 75th minute after collecting a pass from junior midfielder Seth Newby. The senior striker now leads the conference with six goals and 13 points.

CC's All-America candidate put his team on the board at the 53-minute mark off a feed from sophomore defender Jack McCormick, who earned the first point of his career.

Freshman goalkeeper Theo Hooker improved to 4-0 by making a pair of saves, but his scoreless streak ended at a little more than 340 minutes when Schreiner's Gregg Guittierez leveled the score soon after Ogilvie notched his first tally of the game.

Ogilvie climbed into a tie for 20th place on Colorado College's career goal list, joining Fernando Regueiro (1997-99) with 26. He also became the 23rd player in program history to reach the 60-point plateau, surpassing both Erik Richardson (1988-91) and Kristian Sundborn (1985, 1988-89) who finished with 58.

In his last two games against the Mountaineers, Ogilvie has scored five goals.

CC finished with a 12-7 edge in total shots and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

With their sixth consecutive victory, the Tigers improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the SCAC.

Junior keeper Michael Clifford stopped one shot for Schreiner, which slipped to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Colorado College wraps up its two-match visit to the Lone Star State on Sunday at Texas Lutheran University.
