ABILENE, TX -- A second half surge from McMurry was enough for them to get past Texas Lutheran Women's Soccer as the Bulldogs fell to the War Hawks 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
Freshman goalkeeper Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) was active in-goal, allowing two shots on 8 goals defended with 5 saves in the first half. The War Hawks were active early shooting 10 shots in the first half and they were all either turned away by Phipps or off target. The War Hawks finally got past Phipps in the 58th and 60th minutes to gain an advantage the Bulldogs could never cut into as McMurry sealed their shutout victory.
The War Hawks controlled possession and outshot the Bulldogs 14-0 - 8 of which were on goal.
