Women's Soccer Wins SCAC Regular-Season Title

GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern women's soccer continues to break new ground with its first SCAC regular-season title in program history after defeating the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs 2-0 in the final game before the conference tournament.

Lilly Van Meter scored the game-winner for her first career goal off a corner kick from Hanna Sanderson. Sanderson delivered the ball towards the goal, sending it off the goalpost and to the foot of Van Meter for the goal. Senior team captain Sam Davis added an insurance goal in the second half on a penalty kick for her third goal of the season.

Southwestern entered the game as the stingiest defense in the conference, allowing just nine goals all season for a 0.59 goals-against average. The Pirates played a possession-heavy style against Texas Lutheran to earn its ninth shutout of the season and fourth in conference play, leading the SCAC in clean sheets.

The Pirates improve to 14-1-1 this season and finish conference play undefeated for the first time in program history with a 0-0 draw against Dallas as the only blemish in conference play. Southwestern will be the top seed in the SCAC Tournament hosted by the University of Dallas on Nov. 5 and 7.
