Rose reaches milestone, but CC falls to Pios

Nick Rose scored 33 points and became the 16th player in Colorado College history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark, but the Tigers dropped a 90-74 decision to Lewis & Clark on Saturday afternoon at Reid Gymnasium.

Rose reached the milestone on the first of two free throws with 3:37 remaining in the second half. By the end of the game, he passed five former Tigers on his climb to 13th on the program's career scoring list.

Colorado College made six of its first nine shots and led 13-6 after Rose knocked down a turnaround jumper 5:29 into the game. The Pioneers answered with a 12-4 run and took their first lead on a layup by Kelly Edwards with 11:14 to play in the opening half.

After Ryan Milne tied the game at 28-28 with 7:32 to play, the Tigers missed five of their next field goal attempts and Lewis & Clark went on a 19-5 run to build 47-33 with 2:08 to play.

Brady Ohlsen pulled the Tigers to within nine points with two of his 23 points 1:28 into the second half, but that was as close as CC would get. Ohlsen completed his double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Donato Perconti made five of six shots from behind the three-point line en route to a 19-point performance. James Hollins converted on seven of 10 field goal attempts and finished with a team-high 23 points to help the Pioneers improve to 2-0.

Lewis & Clark finished with .517 percentage from the floor and was 9-of-19 from behind the arc. The Tigers shot just .409 from the field, including a 6-for-23 effort from long range.

Colorado College (1-1) returns to action next Friday against the University of Dallas in the opening game of the 2010 Colorado College Thanksgiving Classic.
