Women's Basketball Takes On The Pacific Northwest

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS- Southwestern University Women's Basketball hosted both the Pacific University Boxers and the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes on Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving Break. 

First up, was Pacific on Friday and the Pirates had three players finish in double digits, Lauren Stevens (10), Taylor Boddie (10), and Ellie Ward (16). The Boxers outrebounded the Pirates 39-22 and increased their lead off of second chance points. The Boxers, Sydney Grey finished with 20 points and Pacific University walked away with the win, 76-61. 

On Saturday, Ellie Ward led the way with 15 points and Trinity Benitez added 11 of her own and 6 rebounds. Benetiz was the spark off the bench that the Pirates needed and the Pirates battled back to be within 2 points at the half. The Lutes increased their pressure in the third quarter and Southwestern struggled with turnovers. Pacific Lutheran University beat the Pirates, 53-37. 

At Halftime, Southwestern University Athletics honored 8 Alumni who were in attendance for the game.
